This is the cavaquinho's true home: in samba, choro and pagode it is the rhythmic and harmonic center, driving the groove with bright, percussive chords. The soundtrack of Brazil's countryside, sertanejo lives on emotional melodies and duet vocals about love, longing and simple living. Here you can browse two paths within the genre: the pop axis, in other words the modern radio-friendly branch, and the classic caipira style, the traditional root it all grew from.
