About Chord & Fret
A pocket studio for anyone who plays a plucked string instrument: it finds the chord or scale on the neck, in the tuning you actually use, and lets you hear what you are seeing — offline, ad-free and with no tracking.
What the app does
You search for a chord and it appears on your instrument's neck, in every playable position, with the fingering and the sound. Or you run it backwards: build the shape your hand is making and the app names the chord. It covers 4 instruments — acoustic guitar, electric guitar, cavaquinho and ukulele —, 16 tunings, 57 scales and modes, and 41 chord qualities in 12 keys.
Beyond the dictionary, the app keeps your charts in folders, plays along with a metronome, transposes, finds the capo, suggests chord substitutions and trains your ear. All of it on the device.
What we will not change
- It works with no internet. The chord and scale engine runs on the device. No signal, no problem: the app stays whole.
- No ads and no trackers. Not in the app, not on this site. No pixel, no advertising id, and the site sets no cookie at all.
- Using it needs no account. The account only shows up when you want your library on another device — and syncing is free.
- The engine is ours, and it is audited. The shapes are not a table copied off the internet: they are computed, and every one goes through automated tests before it ships.
- Three real languages. Portuguese, English and Spanish, each with its own notation — 7M and ° where that is how people write.
What is free and what is Pro
The essentials are free forever, and that includes hearing. Pro opens what you do AFTER finding the chord: the variations of the sound, the stage for your charts, and the deep catalogue.
| Free | Pro |
|---|---|
| Search and see any chord or scale, in every position | Arpeggio and campanella on every position, and the whole scale played |
| Hear the chord and share the diagram | Saving chords and starring scales in the notebook |
| 20 saved charts, with transpose, capo and pinned shapes | Unlimited charts, with stage mode, road map and section timer |
| The whole tuner, metronome and rhythm trainer | The tuner's alternate tunings |
| 9 of the 61 cadences, plus one unlocked each week | All 61 cadences, with audio and diagrams |
| The Jazz Lab’s drop 2 | The drop 3 and shell voicings |
| Syncing across devices | Identify chord with no daily limit |
Syncing is free on purpose: having your library on any device is what makes the app worth keeping, and charging for that would only push away the people who would have stayed.
