Frevo on cavaquinho

Frevo on cavaquinho: the strumming pattern “carnival march”, in 2/4, with audio on its own page. On the cavaquinho a chord progression comes out bright and rhythmic; the four high strings pack the notes close together, so each shape sounds compact and lively.

Pure, uncut energy: frevo is the soundtrack of Pernambuco's carnival, so fast it sends dancers flying with their colorful little umbrellas. On this page you'll find the genre's strumming patterns — that is, the quick, clipped rhythmic figures that deliver its electric drive.
