Cmaj9(#11) chord on ukulele
Cmaj9(#11) is the major ninth sharp eleventh chord: C, E, G, B, D and F# (1–3–5–7–9–#11). On ukulele, the diagram shape is 4 6 0 3, with E in the bass.
On the ukulele, the high reentrant G makes every shape light — and with four strings, every note is exposed. In this Cmaj9(#11) voicing the bass is E and the shape runs from fret 3 to 6, ringing 1 open string. Because this instrument has fewer strings than Cmaj9(#11) has notes, one note, usually the fifth, is normally dropped without losing the chord's identity. Its soft nylon strings sound warm and mellow, light enough to float gently over a song.
