Baião on guitar
Baião on guitar: the strumming pattern “thumb and finger answers”, in 2/4, with audio on its own page. On the acoustic guitar, a chord progression comes to life as full, ringing shapes, with the low string anchoring the bass and the rest filling out the harmony.
A steady pulse from Brazil's Northeast, baião has a syncopated swing — that is, with accents landing off the strong beat — that gets any gathering dancing. On this page you'll find the genre's typical strumming patterns, the rhythmic shapes that give the music its unmistakable groove.
